In 2009, Tony and Leigh Mead purchased Vancostas’. Tony and Leigh live in Hampton, with there two children, Heather and Nick. Tony graduated from Kecoughtan High School and actually washed dishes at Vancostas’ when he was 15 years old. Leigh grew up on the south side and graduated from Cox High School.
Tony and Leigh met in 1992 in Orlando. They both worked for Chi-Chi’s Mexican restaurant. Throughout the years they both managed well-known restaurant chains, but were both looking to purchase a quality restaurant in close proximity to an established neighborhood. Tony’s familiarity with Vancosta’s and Olde Wythe area made it a perfect match. Tony and Leigh have always focused on Olde Wythe and the surrounding neighborhoods and schools. They advertise locally, promote Hampton City schools and the events at Darling Stadium, and offer rebate programs to Hampton-Wythe Little league and Wythe “WAHOOS” swim team. They have participated in numerous fundraiser; have made significant donations to different local causes; and have provided gift cards for raffles, gift baskets to various schools and civic organizations.
So, when deciding on a place to eat, think about Leigh and Tony; think about the great food and friendly service.
